Aecon is ready to become North America's top telecommunication provider and we’re looking for CAD Technician to help us get therePurpose of the Position: Reporting to the Team Lead, the Cad Technician will be responsible for providing pipeline layout information to all aspects of the construction project with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented.Key Responsibilities:Completion of design drawings, quantity calculations and as-built drawings for projects within various work types using various software packages (e.g. AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Civil 3D)Ability to interpret field survey data, coordinate and communicate with field survey crewsProvide calculations and assist with day to day work flows to field staffPrepare 3D models for use in AutoCAD ACC common data environment.Maintain accurate survey and drawing records, documentation and submittals, and ability to follow BIM Management procedures.Project coordination duties including; status updates, and coordination with external stakeholders.Interpret and adhere to legislative, project and code requirements and client’s specifications (e.g. Ontario Standard Drawings)Conduct QC verification on drawings / designsRequired Knowledge And Experience:3 to 5 years of AutoCAD drafting experiencePost-secondary education in Civil / Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics or design field, Architectural or equivalent experienceCET certified or CET eligible is an assetAbility to create 3D Models using CAD software.Experience with ACCStrong proficiency with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools and Menu’sExcellent verbal, written and communication skillsSelf-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environmentExperience working with government bodies and familiar with legislative requirements (e.g. Ministry of Transportation, city permit applications)Strong attention to detailCollaborating with Designers to ensure accuracy of drawings.Working with permit drawings and city websites to understand the full scope of the drawing.Liaises with designers and field staff to problem solve.Tracking project hours and strategically staying within designated hours.Performs other duties as required.Necessary Competencies:CollaborationMotivates others and builds trust and confidence among team membersAble to work with and communicate to internal stakeholders (e.g. project management/operations teams)Character based leadershipIntegrity, Humility, Transparency, Courage, Drive, Energy, Passion, Curiosity to LearnAmbassador for the company internally and externallyLives the Aecon Leadership ExpectationsAecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
