Our mission is to deliver and maintain our enterprise databases, provide data backup and support disaster recovery. In our daily work we value and require close collaboration within the team and cross-organization. We are looking for another Staff Database Engineer to join our growing unit. This position is remote and has EST working hours. This position may also require quarterly travel to our second global HQ Morrisville, NC.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Design & PlanningLead the design and optimization of database architecture to ensure high performance and availability.Select appropriate database products for different business scenarios, and conduct product selection and technical evaluation.Database Operation Maintenance ManagementResponsible for the daily maintenance and management of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, SQLServer, ElasticSearch, OpenSearch.Manage changes within the database lifecycle, such as version upgrades and migrations.Write and design database automations and write Shell/Python scripts.Ensure stable operation of database systems in high concurrency environments: handle large-scale data storage, querying, and monitoring alarm tasks.Plan and design data migration between homogeneous and heterogeneous databases, design migration processes, and assist in automated implementation to ensure data consistency and integrity.Plan and design data synchronization and replication between homogeneous and heterogeneous databases, synchronize incremental data in real-time online, and ensure business continuity.Additional Initiatives to Look Forward ToDesign and implement a comprehensive database monitoring and alarm system.Support adoption of AI tools and automations.Basic Qualifications5 years of Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database architecture, design and planning.10 years of Experience in Database Operation and management.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field is required.Preferred Qualifications10 years of Experience with SQL, Shell, Python, Ansible.Expertise with PostgreSQL/MySQL/Redis/SQLServer/ElasticSearch/OpenSearch and OCP databases.Demonstrated understanding of database principles (transactions, locking mechanisms, storage engines, backup and recovery).Expertise writing and implementing automation scripts and tools.Experience working with performance analysis tools and BI tools.Systematic approach to mitigating risk from an architectural perspective.Solid cross-functional collaboration skills; able to align and communicate with business users and stakeholders across different levels.Possess systematic thinking and be able to mitigate risks from an architectural perspective.Cultural Competency working across Chinese, American, Desi, European, and South American cultural contexts, ensuring messages are communicated with clarity and tact.Sensitivity and rapid learning ability to adapt to technological changes, tracking trends in database technology development, and promoting exploration into new directions.The base salary budgeted range for this position is $107-140k. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
