Acquired Brain Injury | Life Skills Worker We are currently hiring a relief, full‑time Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) | Life Skills Worker to join our team at the Kamloops Central Health in Kamloops, B.C. This relief position will continue until the return of the incumbent. Who are we looking for? We seek a compassionate, personable and skilled candidate with at least one year’s experience with ABI who is dedicated to supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries to live as independently and successfully as possible. The ideal candidate brings experience in life‑skills coaching or psychosocial rehabilitation, is comfortable working within a harm‑reduction framework, demonstrates strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, is patient and adaptable, and can effectively engage clients in developing daily living, communication, and wellness skills. The candidate should also value collaboration, maintain professionalism and confidentiality, and work well as part of a multidisciplinary team to empower clients to achieve their goals and improve quality of life. Life Skills Workers play a vital role in care. They plan, observe, monitor and report on clients’ progress and level of acceptance of services and support. They assist clients with activities associated with daily living and work to demonstrate and model appropriate behaviors related to problem‑solving and decision‑making. This position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm‑reduction framework for ABI clients with or without concurrent disorders, supporting clients in developing and maintaining the skills required to live successfully in their own home or a supportive living environment. The ABI – Life Skills Worker is expected to engage clients in various community settings as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation. Financial management and budgeting Interpersonal communication and relationships Providing medication reminders Overall wellness self‑management Personal care (e.g., hygiene) Making and keeping appointments and other personal organization Household management (e.g., laundry, cleaning) Menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation Community access (e.g., public transportation, community services) Vocational planning Scheduling Information Shifts are Thursday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 hours. Days of work are Monday to Friday. How will you create an impact?
