CAMH has a number of current career opportunities for you to consider.Select a job title to view the description and apply online Psychologist - Gender Identity Clinic (Access to Care) The Gender Identity Service is currently seeking a part-time, permanent Psychologist. The Gender Identity Service is a specialized outpatient clinic providing assessments for gender affirming surgery as well as individual support to individuals who are expressing discontent with their birth sex in relation to their gender identify. With recent changes to regulations in Ontario, the clinic will be in a position to offer consultation to individuals and their primary care providers who are seeking gender affirming surgery. You may also provide trans competent therapeutic and psychoeducational services to individuals, groups and couples. Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager, you will perform clinical assessments related to the readiness of individuals seeking to undergo gender affirming surgeries in line with the most recent World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines (WPATH). You will also have educational duties including supervising psychology interns and practicum students. The psychologist in this position is expected to participate in training psychology trainees in the clinical assessment and/or treatment of clients. The successful applicant may participate in public education activities, and will work collaboratively and effectively with multiple stakeholders and partners. Some research opportunities or program evaluation activities may be possible. You are committed to reducing transphobia in all contexts. The successful candidate must be a registered member in good standing as a Psychologist in autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and have a doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., D.Psy.) with 3 years clinical experience. The successful candidate will have 2 years of demonstrated professional experience and training, working with individuals with gender identity issues and be qualified to provide supervision to psychologists requiring supervised practice. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the WPATH. Experience or specialized training with gender identity disorders is required. Knowledge and experience in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and oppression is essential. Documented supervised training and competence in psychotherapy is required. Evidence of research experience in the area of gender identity issues would be an asset as well evidence of productive partnering with trans community groups. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively to improve the quality of care for our clients within an inter-professional team are essential. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both in writing and in oral presentation. The capacity to work with clients of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds is required. Experience in working with, living with, and/or being a member of the trans community is an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset. Please Note: This part-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
