Position Summary The Nurse Clinician reports to the Director of LTC Operations Quality and Risk and provides strategic leadership and professional expertise to the Directors of Care and senior management team. The role supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs, ensuring compliance with the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, and all related legislation and regulatory standards. The Nurse Clinician also plays a key role in performance management, providing coaching, feedback, and guidance to maintain high professional and ethical standards across resident care and service areas. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with senior leadership to define and promote the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Partner with Directors of Care in strategic planning and setting annual goals. Guide policy, procedure, and protocol development across all sites. Support Directors of Care and ADOCs in staff performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Advise leadership on disciplinary best practices and compliance with collective agreements. Lead and evaluate Quality Improvement initiatives and follow up on noncompliance findings. Conduct annual Resident Quality Inspections (RQI) and support corrective action plans. Monitor quality assurance systems, implement corrective measures, and advise on best practices. Oversee interdisciplinary and interfacility programs to support high‑quality resident care. Guide development and management of operating budgets and resources. Advise on procurement of resident care equipment and supplies. Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of nursing leaders and staff. Participate in performance evaluations and provide mentorship to Directors of Care. Support interpretation and application of collective agreements. Uphold high ethical and professional standards, modeling integrity and accountability. Promote fairness, transparency, and respect in all disciplinary actions. Maintain ongoing professional learning and development. Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols for staff and residents. Lead safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions. Support Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives. Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support organizational needs and priorities. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Minimum 8 years of leadership and management experience in long‑term care. Experience in gerontology and healthcare administration. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. In‑depth knowledge of nursing operations, staffing, and budgeting processes. Comprehensive understanding of the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, and College of Nurses of Ontario standards. Proven background in facility operations, compliance, and quality management. Positive, professional attitude with conflict management and accountability skills. Strong mentoring, coaching, and corrective action abilities. Must provide proof of required vaccinations; maintaining current vaccination status is strongly recommended.
