Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager - Buildings

The Buildings group in Vancouver provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the Transportation (Light Rail, Airports, Road Tunnels), Healthcare, Light Industrial, Municipal, Institutional, and National Defense sectors. Our electrical group is dynamic and tight-knit, servicing both local projects and contributing to large remote projects as part of distributed virtual project teams.

We are growing and looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager to join our regional team with opportunities to provide staff leadership roles and support business development activities.

Your role within the team
  • Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates of medium and high complexity.
  • Develop strategies to identify and manage project risks and potential liabilities.
  • Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants. Review tender submissions and quotations from contractors. Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor's conformance to design requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of electrical specifications. Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations.
  • Lead production of all required engineering documents in schematic design, design development, and working drawings. Ensure design products meet required quality standards. li>
  • Support and work in collaboration with other team members to complete projects on time and on budget. Supervise, mentor, and train intermediate engineers, junior designers & EITs./>

    The ideal candidate
    • University Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registration in other Provinces is an asset).
    • Minimum of 10 years' experience working on complex electrical building systems and designing building services in hospitals, extended care homes, and other healthcare-related buildings. Track record of lead design responsibility for Power Supply including emergency power distribution per CSA Z32 & CSA 282 and distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Nurse call system, Communications & Security systems.
    • Computer Skills - MS Office Suite.
