Sr Technology Architect contractNetworks and Infrastructure Ottawa , Ontario Contract Apr 17, 2025Technical Architect (Level 3)Company: DLS Technology CorporationWork Location: Ottawa, CanadaDLS is seeking a skilled Senior Technology Architect to provide high-level expertise in supporting the development, operation, and sustainment of a distributed, virtualized private cloud infrastructure. This infrastructure supports modelling and simulation systems for collaborative, secure, and scalable use in complex environments, including deployments at remote or austere locations.The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical leadership in systems architecture, cloud services, and virtualization in multi-tenant environments, and will oversee integration work produced by a team of technical professionals.The successful candidate must have be willing to operate as an Independent Contractor.If you are a deadline-driven Independent Contractor with a strong technical background and hands-on development experience, we want to hear from youResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Lead architectural design, implementation, and operational support of a private on-premises cloud-based data centre infrastructure.Deliver solutions involving compute, storage, networking, and virtualization that align with system requirements.Guide and integrate the work of at least four additional technical resources.Ensure secure connectivity across remote systems and enclaves using cross-domain and secure data transfer technologies.Support the deployment and sustainment of modelling and simulation platforms and tools.Maintain version control and documentation libraries for all work delivered.Troubleshoot complex network and virtualization issues across multiple environments.Provide architectural leadership for additional deployments or variants of the infrastructure platform.Translate business needs into technical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.Oversee software development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.Prepare detailed documentation including system designs, manuals, schedules, and cost estimates.REQUIREMENTSEducation & CertificationsBachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent field.CISSP or similar security certificationsMust Hold Canadian Secret CleanceTechnical SkillsExperience:Minimum 10 years within the last 15 years in:Requirements analysis in multi-tenant environments.System architecture for network, compute, and storage.Virtualization (design, installation, troubleshooting).Cloud service design and deployment (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).Secure networking between remote systems.Cross-domain security implementations.Integration of modelling/simulation tools (e.g., XCITE, VBS, JSAF, MaK One, etc.).Minimum 5 years in the past 10 managing technical teams (minimum 4 people).Experience supporting a private cloud system for at least one year within the last five years.Additional Qualifications (Asset Criteria):Certifications:Dell Certified Expert – Cloud Architect (DCE-CA)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)Professional Membership:Active membership with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)Core Technology Experience:At least 5 years of experience with two or more of:VMware vSAN, vCenter, HorizonNVidia GRID vGPUKubernetesMicrosoft Active Directory, WSUSThin clients (e.g., Dell Wyse)Network Technologies:Experience with protocols such as OSPF, VLANs, NAT, DNS, LACP, VRF, etc.Simulation Systems:Integration and operation of modelling & simulation toolsets (e.g., JSAF, AWSIM, MetaVR, VBS).POSITION HIGHLIGHTSStart Date: May 2025 (Anticipated)Sector: Public SectorOpen Positions: 1Location: Ottawa, ONOn-Site/Remote: On siteJob Type: Contract – Long TermLanguage Requirements: EnglishWho We AreRecognized as one of Canada's Top 500 Growing and Growth 400 companies, DLS Technology Corporation is a leading solutions integrator and service provider with an extensive cybersecurity research and development practice.
