OverviewJoin to apply for the Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer role at Canonical.Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. This is a globally remote role unless specified otherwise.ResponsibilitiesInvestigate issues reported by customers by researching and escalating issues.Work to resolve complex customer problems related to Canonical\'s portfolio of products.Own and manage support cases to meet SLA targets and maximize customer satisfaction by setting expectations and fulfilling commitments.Engage directly with customers and collaborate via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions to resolve issues.Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.Contribute to and maintain knowledge base articles to share lessons learned with customers.Understand the Ubuntu development process to set realistic expectations on timelines for fixes.What we are looking for in youProfessional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skillsStrong academic track record or a compelling alternative narrativeUndergraduate degree in a technical subject or demonstrated equivalent experienceTrack record of going above and beyond to achieve outstanding resultsExperience with Linux troubleshooting (collecting logs and stack traces, editing configuration files)Experience with Linux integration with other environments (authentication/directory services, network file systems, etc.)Troubleshooting skills: navigate logs and stack traces, advise on next steps, and understand OS and application level bugs for escalationAbility to learn quickly, adapt to change, and handle the pressure of a customer-facing roleProgramming fundamentals in any languageAbility to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeksExtensive customer support experience with a customer-first mindsetWhat we offerDistributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprintsPersonal learning and development budgetAnnual compensation review and performance-based rewardsRecognition rewards and annual holiday leaveMaternity and paternity leaveEmployee Assistance ProgrammeOpportunities to travel to meet colleaguesAbout CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
