The hospital has 25 beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians. An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site. Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a North Coast community. Specialists include a General Surgeon, an Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. There are a number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis.Position DetailsPosition: Healthcare Security OfficerSite: Labrador Health CentreOvertime: Overtime after 48 hoursHours: Continental RotationPayrate: $23.00/hourPosting Date: October 10th, 2025Internal Closing Date: October 31st, 2025External Closing Date: October 31st, 2025Schedule ExampleWeek 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-SatWeek 2 - Days - Sun, Wed-ThuWeek 3 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-SatWeek 4 - Nights - Sun, Wed-ThuKey ResponsibilitiesPatrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
