Position Summary: The Kitchen Manager is responsible for directing the day‑to‑day operation of the kitchen to ensure Opaa standards are met and maintained, and the kitchen is compliant with all safety and health regulations. Responsibilities Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation. Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints. Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to satellite buildings. Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff. Demonstrate and promote Opaa's Core Values, and report concerns to DNS immediately. Supervise kitchen staff, delegate workflow, and inform DNS of personnel issues. Train, cross‑train, and certify all kitchen job stations, and be prepared to perform any kitchen function as required. Ensure overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas. Maintain compliance with Opaa recipes and menu plans; obtain approval for menu changes from DNS at least 24 hours in advance. Maintain strict compliance with Opaa Food Management, Inc. Timekeeping Policy. Submit all hours worked via ADP or an edit sheet for missing time. Maintain compliance with HACCP, HHFKA, and CACFP Meal Patterns. Maintain compliance with all Opaa safety processes and worker and health safety regulations; report unsafe conditions promptly. Coordinate and submit food and supply orders to Boss. Maintain accurate production records, inventory, and FIFO standards. Reconcile daily tray counts with district reports and ensure reimbursement. Maintain communication with the building principal; conduct weekly update meetings. Conduct “Daily Dish” meetings and use the production board to plan and monitor service flow. Attend and actively participate in weekly Kitchen Manager meetings with DNS. Perform all other duties as assigned by Opaa Food Management. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively. Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculation of rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs. Reasoning: apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and solve problems involving a few concrete variables. Machine skills: experience with dishwashers, steamers/kettles, mixers, ovens, stoves, fryers, slicers, thermometers, gauges, knives, and other kitchen equipment. Computer skills: use Meal Counting Software, Desktop PCs, calculators, telephone, fax, scanner, copier, and printer. License: Serve Safe Certification; additional certifications may vary by state.
