Police Liaison Practitioner - Band 6 Join to apply for the Police Liaison Practitioner - Band 6 role at Cheswold Park Hospital. Job overview This 12‑hour day and night shift role is part of a 24/7 rota operating between the Police Patrol Room and the Home‑Based Treatment Team office. You will triage police logs, provide advice and, when required, attend incidents in the community to support officers, complete assessments and plan care. You will work closely with police colleagues, families and carers to de‑escalate situations, manage risk and guide people to the right services, helping to reduce unnecessary use of Section 136. Working pattern Full‑time permanent, 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working; 12‑hour day and night shifts on a 24/7 rota. Based between the Police Patrol Room and the Home‑Based Treatment Team office. Location Willowdale, Calderdale Royal Hospital – Halifax, HX3 0PW. Job responsibilities Triage police logs, provide advice and attend incidents in the community. Complete assessments, develop care plans and support risk management. Work collaboratively with police, families, carers and community agencies. De‑escalate situations and seek appropriate pathways to reduce use of Section 136. Maintain accurate records and provide timely written information to police. Lead and supervise junior staff where appropriate, supporting their professional development. Participate in audit, training and evidence‑based practice initiatives. Person specification – Essential Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent in mental health nursing or social work. Current registration with the relevant professional body. Experience carrying out complex risk assessment and developing comprehensive care packages. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Skills in specialist assessments, negotiation, engagement and teamwork. Experience supervising and providing training to staff. Ability to work independently, under pressure and in unsocial hours. Experience working with people who have severe and enduring mental illness. Ability to travel across the Trust as required. Strong commitment to partnership working with service users and carers. Person specification – Desirable Recognised qualification in clinical supervision. Experience with substance misuse and relapse prevention. Use of assessment tools. Qualification in psychological interventions (e.g., P.S.I. or CBT, HCR‑20). Mentorship experience (e.g., SLiP). Research or academic training experience.
