We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. This is a fixed-term post of 6 months. Greater Glasgow and Clyde are looking for a Consultant Pathologist who has, or is willing to develop, special interests in gynaecological pathology and gastrointestinal pathology. There are opportunities to contribute to other teams in the department following discussion with Head of Service. This replacement post, based at the Laboratory Medicine Building within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus, will have shared responsibility with 47 consultant colleagues for the provision of specialist diagnostic pathology services. The post holder will have full GMC specialist registration and completion for FRCPath part 2.We are one of the largest single site Pathology services in the UK, receiving over 108,227 requests annually. We are committed to innovation including transition to full digitisation of histopathology services. The department is based in a modern laboratory building (2012) and provides local, regional and some national services. We are co-located and work closely with Molecular Diagnostics for the provision of integrated reporting. An interest in teaching/research is encouraged.
