Status : OpenPosition is a qualified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter with minimal fire and rescue experience. Position is a qualified Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) or Registered Nurse (RN) with minimal experience. Position is an entry / developing level professional focused on providing safe emergency responses to all downgrading incidents once they have been reported. Position development will consist of obtaining 3rd Class Emergency Response Level classification within the client’s ESD Development Matrix.Key AccountabilitiesReporting to the Emergency Coordinator, the Level 1 ERO performs basic duties relating to fire, medical, rescue and hazmat according to standard practices and procedures.Responds to all downgrading incidents as a member of a team under the supervision of a Level 2 ERO, Senior Emergency Response Officer (SERO) and / or Emergency Coordinator (EC).Performs assigned tasks as required to support the Emergency Action Plan.Provides medical assessment and treatment within the boundaries of their PCP, ACP, or RN Protocols.Supports the Training Group and Treatment Room Group as requested and assigned.Performs Level 1 (housekeeping inspections) on property assets.Must be able to independently collect and analyze comprehensive information applying basic professional judgment with guidance on complex issues.During emergency operations the Level 1 ERO must have the ability to follow direction and execute tactics. He / she must have the knowledge and ability to evaluate the effectiveness of their tactics, communicate status and make necessary recommendations to the Sector Leader and / or Incident Commander to help ensure the most effective and safe approach to all downgrading incidents. These evaluations and communications must be completed under extreme confusing and dangerous situations.Independently provide initial response including size up and conduct immediate mitigation tactics.High level of knowledge and ability to interpret relevant response, medical and operational guidelines, protocols, and policy & procedures.The physical working conditions are primarily hands on, task oriented. The ERO is regularly exposed to extreme changes in climate during regular daily duties in plant areas. During emergency operations extreme demands are placed on the ERO’s physical abilities as well as exposure to extremely hazardous environments including toxic atmospheres, extreme heat, confined spaces, and heights.During emergency operations the mental exertion required is significant due to the extreme pressure to get things done quickly due to the concern for life safety.Positions at the client are on call at night during the work cycle.Required Qualifications, Experience and EducationQualified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter with basic technical knowledge and experience (1 – 3 years of experience)Qualified Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) or Registered Nurse (RN) with basic technical knowledge and experience (1-3 years of experience)Registered to practice with the required governing body having jurisdiction (AB PCP & ACP registered with Alberta College of Paramedics, AB RN registered with CARNA)Certification and / or equivalent experience in 1 of the following areas: Dangerous Goods - NFPA 472 Operations Level, Fire Dept. Vehicles Driver / Operator - NFPA 1002, Wildland Fire Fighting - NFPA 1051Certified in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) would be an asset.Paramedic / RN certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Alberta Class 3 Operators License with Air Brake endorsement would be an asset.Successfully pass the annual client’s Emergency Services Fitness Test #J-18808-Ljbffr
