Location - Mississauga, ON Candu Energy is engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving analysis and design of New Build Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) in Cernavoda 3/4 units in Romania. Civil/Structural engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis, seismic margin assessment, and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents. Candu Energy Inc. is looking to hire multiple Civil/Structural engineers for full‑time term/permanent positions. The types of engineering work include structural and seismic analysis, structural design check and assessment of structures, systems, and components. Documentation to be produced includes analysis reports, design calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and design requirements. The candidate shall be familiar with the use of analysis programs such as ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, LS‑DynA, etc. The candidate ideally should have previous CANDU or other nuclear technology design and construction experience. Your role within the team: Perform static, dynamic, SSI analysis, and structural design. Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry, and compile engineering packages. Analyze structural systems and elements using analysis software such as ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, LS‑DynA, and other structural programs. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and ensure the adequacy of design for permits and approved plans. Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design. Prepare technical specification documents. Accountable for delivering all engineering deliverables to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets. Provide technical instructions and mentoring to junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation. Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation. Check that work meets quality requirements in accordance with company QA programs and manuals. Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as mandated for design changes. Prepare engineering estimates and technical write‑ups for proposals. Perform plant walk‑downs as required to support design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications. The ideal candidate: Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in nuclear power plants and/or industrial buildings. A master’s degree or higher is an asset. 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in nuclear power plants and/or industrial buildings is an asset. Must be licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada, preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design‑office and site experience. Thorough knowledge of Canadian (CSA N‑standards, CSA A23.3, S16, NBCC, etc.) and international codes and standards used in civil/structural engineering. Thorough knowledge of the use of analysis software commonly used in civil/structural engineering such as ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, LS‑DynA, etc. Previous CANDU or other nuclear technology experience is a must. Previous CANDU‑6 experience is preferred. Must have experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations. Adequate knowledge of established nuclear QA guidelines, procedures, and practices is preferable. Adequate knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset. Knowledge of the modification process of nuclear power plants (e.g., ECC process) or similar is an asset. Must have good time‑management and prioritization skills. Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to manage work effectively under tight schedules and budgets. Eligible for security clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
