The Board encourages all qualified applicants interested in this opportunity to apply.ResponsibilitiesFollow the guidance of the DECE operating the extended day classroomSupport positive and responsive interactions among the children, parents, child care providers and staffEncourage children to interact and communicate in a positive way and support their ability to self-regulateSupport the children’s exploration, play and inquirySupport child-initiated and adult-supported experiencesSupport positive learning environments and experiences in which each child’s learning and development will be supported and which is inclusive of all children, including children with individualized plansSupport indoor and outdoor play, as well as active play, rest and quiet time, into the day, and give consideration to the individual needs of the children receiving child careFoster the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their childrenFollow licensing requirements under the Child Care and Early Years ActFoster an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and inclusive culture where all children feel seen, heard, respected, and have the support and resources they need to flourishSupport the health, safety, nutrition and well-being of the childrenSupervise and support children to ensure that they are healthy and safe by following Public Health, First Aid and Emergency proceduresMandatory Educational And Experience RequirementsHold a minimum of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent level of educational attainmentPrior experience supervising and supporting children in a positive and safe mannerCondition of Employment for Extended Day B.A.S.S. Ratio EmployeesValid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED OR be ready, able and willing to obtain this training as a condition of employmentSatisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) that is current within 5 years if currently employed with the WRDSB. Satisfactory PVSC that is current within 6 months for new employeesMust complete the Licensed child care staff record requirements, including Region of Waterloo Public Health, Health AssessmentApplications and supporting documentation stating qualifications and experience, and proof of Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED must be included in your portfolio.NotesThe Successful Candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check including the Vulnerable Sector, which must be received in Human Resources prior to the commencement of employment. Please note, the Board does not assume any costs associated with the Criminal Reference Check. No phone calls, please.Under the for staff screening and police record checks; Employees [DECEs, EAs, CYWs] working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent vulnerable sector check. In addition, employees are required to complete an annual offence declaration (annually recorded through the WRDSB staff portal). Educators working in Before and After School Programs are required to complete a request for VSC through your local police service (available online) and submit your original electronic copy to the Licensed Child Care Staff Record Site (LCCSR).Employees are required to have a valid first aid and CPR certificate and or be registered to update their training within the year and to maintain this certification. Employees may be required to work on PD days, Winter break, and March break when the program is operating. It is the responsibility of interested candidates to ensure that their application, including a resume and a copy of a current Certificate of Qualification is submitted through Apply to Education.
