Primary Location 5002 Forrest Drive, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, X1A 2A9 Work Schedule Full time, on site presence required. This is a temporary position until January 2027. The position is one year. Your Role You have keen news judgment and high standards, pay close attention to detail and are comfortable making independent editorial decisions in accordance with the CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. You work closely with reporters to develop their stories and ensure they meet high editorial standards and CBC’s principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. You have an interest in the North and its communities, cultures, languages and diversity and put audience needs at the centre of your work, helping to ensure our news content reflects our communities. Your primary responsibility will be in learning the roles and responsibilities of the various producers and working with reporters to vet and produce daily content. You may also be asked to: Vet stories for TV, radio and digital. Provide feedback to reporters. Chase and report news as needed. Work closely with our executive producer to execute strategic priorities. What you bring A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience working in a fast‑paced, daily multi‑platform news environment, including three years as a producer. Close knowledge of the producer responsibilities of at least two platforms (digital, TV, or radio news). Strong journalistic and critical thinking skills, including knowledge of and familiarity with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices as well as the legal and ethical issues related to journalism. Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A strong proven connection or understanding of the communities we serve in the North, and a deep and nuanced understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as required. Possession of a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio‑Canada’s insurance company. University degree in journalism or equivalent with a minimum of five years of journalism experience. The ability to speak a northern Indigenous language would be considered a major asset.
