Curiosity, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, secure software are qualities we highly value.As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, robust backend systems in user and tenant management, authentication and authorization, secret management, access and controls, and other key systems that power DataRobot's Predictive and Generative AI initiatives. You will also provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead impactful projects, enhance their skills, and collaborate with a team of experienced professionals in one of the most innovative and dynamic industries.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:5+ years of proven experience writing high-quality software code in a collaborative environment using Python or GoExpert knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysisDeep understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts and best practicesFamiliarity with common security protocols (e.g., OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, etc.) and security best practicesExtensive experience working with cloud platforms: designing, deploying, and maintaining highly available and scalable cloud-based solutionsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, and experience in optimizing deployment processesStrong understanding of design for scalability, performance, reliability, and securityEffective communication behavior: can connect with both technical and non-technical audiences effectively in English, and capable of mentoring othersA continuous learning mindset with the ability to challenge yourself and apply new knowledge, and to lead by examplePersonal drive and a proactive approach to getting things done, including identifying and solving complex problems independentlyAdapt to and contribute to the fun, fast-paced environment of our engineering teamKey Responsibilities:Lead the design, development, and support of new access-related functionality of our PlatformManage individual projects and milestones with abundant communication of progress, and provide technical leadership to the teamParticipate in and lead code reviews, ensuring high code quality and adherence to best practicesDesign and architect infrastructure for new features with the input of peers and stakeholdersCreate and maintain automated tests, and contribute to test strategy and frameworksEngage in engineering on-call escalated support of services owned by the team, and provide mentorship to junior engineers on supportMentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvementNice to Have:Publicly reviewable contributions to exciting development projects or open-source initiativesStrong knowledge of software architecture for large distributed systems and microservicesUnderstanding of Kubernetes and Helm.
