To apply, please submit your cover letter and resume online at www.markham.ca/careers by November 4, 2025.Join us and make a lasting differenceJob SummaryReporting to the Supervisor, Compensation & Benefits Administration, this position is responsible for the compensation, benefits and pension administration and processing for all full-time staff.ResponsibilitiesCompensation Administration: bi-weekly processing and administration of all full-time staff covering all new hires, changes and terminations; validate eligibility and administration of all various compensation arrangements, progressions including annual economic increases; monitor eligibility of compensation changes including allowances and special payments; manage, set up and track all employee leaves including pregnancy/parental leaves and applicable top ups; monitor attendance and ensure appropriate pay for employees on sick leave/leave of absence; ensure HRIS changes are reflected in HR reports; provide backup for part-time staff.Benefits Administration: administer employee group health benefits enrolments, changes and terminations; maintain plans in the HRIS and Sun Life system; liaise with benefit consultant and vendor; track health care eligibility and retiree benefits; respond to employee inquiries; support reporting requirements and communications materials; assist with orientation/off-boarding as required; participate in benefit surveys; administer fitness memberships as applicable.Pension Administration: administer OMERS transactions; coordinate with Payroll for data accuracy; administer OMERS leaves, service buy backs and service recognitions; support voluntary enrollment for non-full-time employees; arrange OMERS sessions; assist in year-end reconciliations; manage retirement process communications and retiree inquiries.General: partner with Compensation & Benefits, HR and Payroll to streamline processes and communications; prepare earnings statements; administer HRIS with user accounts and data maintenance; liaise with ADP as required.Required Skills & CompetenciesMinimum of 3 years experience in compensation and benefits administration.College diploma in Human Resources or related field.Experience with ADP WFN or similar HRIS/Payroll systems.Pension and payroll administration experience are assets.Current knowledge of Employment Standards Act, payroll and pension legislation.Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; adaptability to changing priorities.Excellent attention to detail.Core BehavioursService Excellence: Meets or exceeds service standards.Change & Innovation: Responds positively to change and helps others through change.Teamwork & Relationship Building: Builds inclusive, collaborative relationships.Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally; demonstrates active listening.Accountable & Results Oriented: Demonstrates ethical behaviour and accountability; aligns with City values.Management & Leadership: Demonstrates self-management, professionalism and engagement.The City of Markham is committed to inclusive, accessible and barrier-free employment practices.
