OverviewSenior Geo-Structural/Geotechnical Design Engineer, for COWI in North AmericaRole location and typeToronto — Regular, Full-Time, HybridResponsibilitiesPerform engineering analysis and design of tunnels, caverns, and shafts in soils, bedrock and/or mixed ground conditions, including initial support and final lining constructed by methods such as sequential excavation method (SEM) / NATM, TBM, or drill and blastApply soil and rock mechanics to evaluate failure modes and develop ground support schemesEvaluate subsurface conditions for different tunneling and underground excavation methods based on geotechnical dataPrepare drawing sketches indicating support types, geometry, construction sequencing, instrumentation, and results; document these in technical memoranda and geotechnical design reportsContribute to digital delivery and information management of projects from conception through completionQualificationsA Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (PhD considered an asset)A registered Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) in OntarioMinimum of 10+ years’ international project design experience, including analysis and design of tunnels, caverns and underground structuresExperience providing geotechnical support for complex structures; familiarity with Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual, CSA Codes, National Building Code and Canadian Highway Bridge Design CodeTeam player who is self-motivated and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environmentBasic knowledge of BIM and parametric design software (AutoCAD, Dynamo, Grasshopper) and design software (RS2/3, SWEDGE, UNWEDGE, DIPS, UDEC, FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Sofistik, etc.)What we offerFlexible working arrangementTop-up parental and childbirth recovery leaveSupportive team with knowledge sharingMinimum 3 weeks vacation to start for full-time hiresFloating holiday to celebrate employee diversityPaid sick leaveAnnual fitness spending accountGroup RRSP program with company matchingPersonal and professional development fundParking or public transit allowanceExtended Health coverage with premiums paid by the companyEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)STD, LTD, AD&D, and Life InsuranceReferral incentive programFrequent social eventsEqual opportunity employerCOWI provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
