Senior Piping Engineer

Job Description Senior Piping Engineer Overview Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Senior Piping Engineer will work on piping and feeder related tasks supporting major new build projects in the nuclear field. The position requires a self‑motivated individual who can work independently and provide instruction to other engineers, developing their career and experience in nuclear engineering. Your role Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements. Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work. Participate in conceptual, preliminary, and/or detailed design of CANDU or nuclear process systems and modifications. Prepare detailed design of piping supports, pipe sizing, and piping/equipment layout with review in S3D, Navisworks Simulation, and Smart Plant Review. Conduct engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, LSDYNA). Evaluate pipe stress of nuclear piping systems in accordance with ASME Section III, Div.1. Perform thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear, and non‑linear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Div.1. Prepare technical documents such as engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bills of materials, and specifications. Prepare TSSA registration packages for pressure boundary modifications. Review supplier technical documents and conduct technical bid analyses. Provide technical guidance and instruction to designers, drafters, and junior staff as required. Lead technical packages with a team of designers, engineers, and stress analysts. Respond promptly and provide engineering resolutions on critical matters. Complete assigned scopes or tasks within the given budget and schedule while maintaining high quality. About you Engineering degree in Mechanical or equivalent recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Minimum of 7 years of related mechanical engineering experience in a heavy industrial environment (nuclear experience is an asset). Experience and expertise in piping stress analysis using PEPS. Experience with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL preferred or Workbench) and LSDYNA or similar software is an asset. Site experience in construction or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset. Strong knowledge of CSA N285.0, CSA B51, CSA N289, and ASME Section III codes and related standards. Qualification or eligibility to be qualified as ASME Appendix XXIII is an asset. Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario or equivalent. Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3, and 6 piping systems, valves, and pumps for nuclear power plants. Extensive knowledge of mechanical and piping systems or equipment (CANDU nuclear systems an asset). Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) as required. Ability to apply technical principles logically and practically to resolve engineering issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
