Senior Auditor, SOX Compliance & Advisory Apply for the Senior Auditor, SOX Compliance & Advisory role at Cenovus Energy Job Post End Date: 11/29/2025 Location Calgary, Alberta, Canada Compensation CA$100,000.00 – CA$130,000.00 Responsibilities Assist with the planning and execution of the SOX program. Test complex SOX processes and perform SOX advisory activities. Coach and train new team members. Coordinate SOX activities that external auditors rely on. Planning activities including de‑consolidation and risk assessment, mapping financial statement accounts to risks and related controls, and validation of risk rankings. Testing: information requests for the four test phases, narratives, walkthrough documentation, test files, and deficiency assessments. Key reports and spreadsheets: scoping documents and related test files for key reports and spreadsheets linked to in‑scope SOX controls. Advisory: scoping and control assessments, walkthroughs, updated process documentation, testing strategy and test files. Entity‑level controls (ELC) and Disclosure controls and procedures (DC&P): updates, test files, and debriefs. Fraud risk assessment: mapping fraud risk scenarios to SOX controls. COSO mapping: mapping COSO framework principles to SOX controls. Seek opportunities to automate the SOX program through existing SOX software (AuditBoard). Qualifications Legally authorized to work in Canada. Minimum 8 years of experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or in a group dedicated to audit, accounting, or finance related activities. Completed undergraduate degree or equivalent experience with professional accounting designation (CA/CPA). In‑depth understanding of auditing and control practices.
