Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time, 25 hrs/week) Location: Hamilton & Six Nations of the Grand River region Term: Start immediately until March 31, 2029 Wage: $33/hr, Part-time, 25 hours per week Reports To: HCoA Board Representative & Project Manager Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities The Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in building and maintaining strong, trust‑based relationships between our project, community partners, and people living with dementia and their care partners. This highly community‑facing role involves attending events, supporting peer‑led groups, recruiting members, leading outreach efforts through social media and marketing, and remaining flexible to changing community needs. Essential Functions Community Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with group members, care partners, and volunteers Act as a liaison to the public, including individuals interested in joining, families, and partner organizations Identify and attend public events, ceremonies, and gatherings to raise awareness and recruit new participants Support individuals living with dementia and/or their care partners in joining existing peer‑led groups or starting new ones Participate in monthly project Advisory Council meetings and contribute community updates Request regular updates from groups/volunteers and stay in close communication Attend group meetings and step in as needed (e.g., if a volunteer is absent) Provide ongoing, as‑needed support to volunteers and peer‑led groups Liaise with the Alzheimer Society of BHNHH to coordinate volunteer recruitment and training Collaborate with partner organizations (SNGR & De dwa da dehs nye>s) to recruit and support new members, care partners, and Advisory Council representatives Marketing & Communications Develop and distribute outreach materials (digital and print) Distribute promotional materials in community spaces Manage and maintain social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) and update the website with news and opportunities Create engaging posts, share updates, and interact with online communities to support recruitment and awareness Documentation & Sustainability Document project learnings, stories, and outcomes Lead the development of knowledge transfer tools (e.g., guides, handouts, resources) to support group sustainability and community adaptation Contribute insights to project evaluation, strategic planning sessions, and reporting Qualifications Knowledge and Skill Requirements Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on relationship‑building Strong community connections with the Indigenous communities in Hamilton and/or Six Nations Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable responding to last‑minute changes or urgent needs Organized and reliable in managing multiple relationships and responsibilities Collaborative team player who values input from others, is open to feedback, and works well in partnership with colleagues, community members, and advisory groups Creative thinker with experience in communications, outreach, or social media Proficiency with SharePoint, Canva, and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) Experience and Education Experience in community engagement, outreach, volunteer coordination, or related fields (required) Post‑secondary education in communications, social sciences, community development, or equivalent lived/professional experience Hybrid (working from home and travelling across the region) Travel within Hamilton and Six Nations required (regular access to a vehicle is essential) Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends Valid driver’s license required How to Apply If this sounds like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you.
