Senior Tax Accountant – Canadian Tax

They offer excellent benefits, amazing growth options and an unbeatable work-life balance like no other firm hasTasks & ResponsibilitiesAssist and prepare Canadian corporate tax engagements including advice on tax planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies, and compliance issuesComplete tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing corporate tax returns, year-end tax forms (T4s/T5s), calculating/reviewing share capital, and ensuring government compliancePerform and execute basic tax reorganizationsCreate files for new clients and newly incorporated businessesAid in the review of legal documentsLiaise with clients and government agencies to address tax compliance issuesPrepare technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining findings and highlightsAnalyze and review discrepancies or irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reportsIdentify technical issues and escalate to manager or engagement partner as neededKeep manager or engagement partner updated on engagement progressStay current on the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislationParticipate in client engagement planning discussions, addressing roles, risks, materiality, and timelinesReview tax returns and team member work for accuracy and completenessMonitor and adjust project timelines as neededContribute to continuous improvement of work processesProfessionally liaise with clients, colleagues, and firm leadershipPerform other accounting duties as requiredSkills & QualificationsCompletion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or CFE2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or tax consultingStrong experience in Public Accounting or TaxSolid understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principlesWorking knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax ActExpertise in preparing/analyzing domestic tax compliance and implementing tax reorganizationsExperience with accounting and tax software (Caseware, Profile, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting)Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointSome travel may be requiredTo be discussedJob TypeFull-Time, PermanentLocationFill out the form below; don’t forget to mention the position you’re applying to.
