Day Treatment Counsellor Assistant – EveryMind Job Overview EveryMind Mental Health Services (formerly Peel Children’s Centre) is seeking a committed and passionate Child & Youth Worker to assist in a day treatment classroom. The role supports the primary counsellor in creating a safe, accepting, and supportive environment for clients aged 12‑17 experiencing serious emotional, behavioural, or relationship difficulties within a school setting. Base Pay CA$41,718.00/yr – CA$48,811.00/yr (commensurate with experience) Location & Schedule Caledon – 31 hours per week, 10.5 months of the academic year. The position is not available during school breaks. Support counselling for clients individually, in groups, and with caregivers. Respond to and support clients’ unique mental health needs within the treatment plan. Lead the classroom and deliver treatment and social skills groups in the counsellor’s absence. Ensure client safety, taking appropriate action when necessary and following EveryMind policies. Implement and adhere to treatment goals, overseeing all aspects of the plan. Build relationships with multidisciplinary team members, host schools, and other professionals. Coordinate with families and caregivers as needed. Maintain accurate observation sheets and client records. Stay current with first aid, medication, and physical intervention techniques. Plan and facilitate activities for clients. Purchase program supplies and manage monthly expenditures. Transport clients when required. Skills and Qualifications Child & Youth Worker diploma with at least one year of related experience, or equivalent. Registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care or eligibility. In depth knowledge of mental health issues and trauma‑informed practice. Experience working in a milieu setting and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Strong oral and written communication, time‑management, and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to respond to clients’ mental health needs within a therapeutic environment. Availability for late afternoons and evenings for meetings and family reviews. Commitment to work the academic year; position not available during school breaks. Proficiency with client care information systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Current First Aid Certificate and UMAB certification. Valid Ontario Driver’s license (Full G) and reliable vehicle for client transportation. Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and pre‑employment medical screening (including TB test and COVID‑19 vaccination).
