Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Markham, ON office. Opportunities for hybrid work are available.

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Assists the Senior Project Manager with planning, execution and delivering of multi-disciplinary engineering design projects;
  2. Coordinates project work with engineering design team such as architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines;
  3. Assists in developing and delivering projects from inception to final completion through scope development, preliminary design, detailed design, construction administration, handover, and closeout;
  4. Leads in-house designers and external sub-consultants through all project phases;
  5. Ensures quality principles are applied and followed by the design team and that documents meet quality requirements;
  6. Coordinates work of sub consultants and in-house design team;
  7. Assists Project Manager and Project Controls in monthly progress and performance reporting;
  8. Plays an active role in records management, budget tracking, and scheduling;
  9. Prepares meeting minutes, reports, and other project documents.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must have no less than:

  1. A University degree in a relevant engineering or architectural discipline plus 4 (four) years of experience as a licensed Engineer or Architect, working within the consulting industry on large, complex construction projects;
  2. Project Management experience and/or PMP certification.

Preferred Requirements:
Prefer 5-10 years of experience as a licensed Engineer or Architect, working within the consulting industry on large, complex construction projects;

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of current engineering principles and practices combined with a knowledge of project management principles and practices;
  2. Demonstrated experience in working within a consulting engineering environment with multi-disciplined teams;
  3. Demonstrated experience in the use of project management concepts for scope, schedule and cost control;
  4. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation;
  5. Must understand fundamental building science and construction;
  6. Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy, willingness to work with multiple different colleagues on a variety of initiatives;
  7. Strong report writing, scheduling, budgeting, and cost monitoring;
  8. Must be computer savvy and able to operate a Windows-based computer including programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
