As an Indigenous Recruitment & Events Coordinator you’ll play a key part in connecting with future students and showcasing everything SAIT has to offer. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing and Recruitment, the Indigenous Recruitment & Events Coordinator specializes in attracting, engaging, and supporting Indigenous learners from across Alberta and Canada. As a trusted representative of SAIT you build strong, respectful relationships with prospective Indigenous students, their families, Elders, community leaders, and key influencers. You connect authentically with communities through school visits, cultural events, and community initiatives, ensuring SAIT’s recruitment efforts are culturally responsive and grounded in respect. Personable and strategic, you use in‑person and virtual outreach to inspire interest. You work closely with Natoy So Poyi’s SAIT Indigenous Student Supports office to ensure recruitment efforts connect seamlessly with the wrap‑around supports available to Indigenous learners on campus. Your approach blends traditional recruitment activities with creative, culturally relevant experiences that reflect the unique needs and values of Indigenous audiences. You provide guidance and insight to strengthen communications, ensuring Indigenous perspectives are reflected in materials, events, and the overall prospective student experience. You coordinate logistics for recruitment travel and events and often take on an advising role yourself, helping students navigate program selection, admissions, and funding opportunities. Your presentations and presence leave a lasting impression, supported by your deep knowledge of SAIT’s offerings and post‑secondary education pathways. With exceptional communication skills and a commitment to relationship‑building you cultivate partnerships with schools, Indigenous communities, community organizations, industry, faculty, and staff, contributing to SAIT’s commitment to advancing Indigenous student success. Lived experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person is required for this role in accordance with SAIT’s commitment to supporting Indigenous communities and pursuant to Section 8(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act. This position is restricted to candidates who self‑identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit). The Role Domestic Recruitment & Community Engagement Plan, coordinate, and support recruitment and engagement initiatives for prospective students, families, educators, and counselors with a strong focus on respectful collaboration with Indigenous communities, schools, and organizations. Maintain a comprehensive recruitment calendar including Indigenous community visits, cultural events, and partnership meetings. Manage event logistics from planning to execution, setting goals, timelines, budgets, staffing, venues, vendors, safety, and cultural protocols. Lead briefings and debriefings with internal teams and community partners, including Elders where appropriate. Oversee operational needs for events (e.g., materials, transport, accommodations, permits) ensuring cultural inclusivity. Represent SAIT at Indigenous community events, career fairs, and educational gatherings. Evaluate recruitment efforts, gather feedback, and identify improvements aligned with strategic goals, especially for Indigenous student pathways. Track and manage recruitment data, including Indigenous outreach in the CRM for reporting and lead follow‑up. Support lead qualification and segmentation for targeted outreach, including Indigenous prospects. Contribute to reporting and trend analysis to enhance recruitment strategies and address Indigenous learner needs. Help develop culturally relevant recruitment tactics aligned with marketing plans. Collaborate with marketing and communications on event materials and technical support. Deliver on‑campus activities (e.g., Student for a Day tours, presentations) and off‑campus outreach (e.g., school visits, community presentations), fostering strong relationships with Indigenous leaders and educators. Communication and Stakeholder Relations Respond promptly to inquiries from prospective students, educators, and key audiences via email, phone, CRM, and other platforms. Share accurate, timely information on SAIT programs, admissions, and student services, including supports for Indigenous learners. Coordinate speakers, ambassadors, and content for recruitment initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and Indigenous community partners. Integrate stakeholder feedback into inclusive project planning and recruitment efforts. Promote a client‑centered approach rooted in transparency, respect, accessibility, and Indigenous values and protocols. Analyze inquiry trends and feedback to enhance service quality and Indigenous student recruitment and retention. Qualifications & Experience Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Education, or a similar field. 2–3 years of related work experience in recruitment and marketing. Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. Class 5 driver’s licence. Skills Required In‑depth knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and learner needs gained through lived experience or direct community engagement. Proven ability to build respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and represent their perspectives in recruitment and outreach. Skilled in planning and executing multiple recruitment initiatives with strong attention to detail and timelines. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and presenting to diverse audiences. Confident facilitator in both virtual and in‑person settings. Strong relationship‑building skills with students, families, educators, ambassadors, and internal teams. Customer‑focused, responsive, and accurate in providing information. Collaborative team player incorporating stakeholder input and promoting transparency. Strategic contributor to recruitment activities aligned with marketing goals, with high standards for quality and consistency. Adaptable to fast‑paced environments, including travel and evening or weekend work. Proficient in Microsoft Office with familiarity in Zoom, Hopin, and CRM platforms.
