Opportunity The 3rd Class Power Engineer assists the 2nd Class Power Engineer in safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Glenrose Energy Centre by performing personal inspections and monitoring remote indicating devices. During non‑administrative hours the assistant is required to monitor and perform energy repair on all mechanical and electrical equipment, including the swimming pool in the hospital, and to respond to all fire alarms by taking appropriate action and resetting the fire system. The position may require work at other hospital sites within the Edmonton Zone, including rural sites. Responsibilities Perform repairs and inspections on a variety of building equipment and mechanical systems in accordance with AHS and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) standards and practices. Maintain power plant and building equipment, operate and maintain the plant safely and efficiently per ABSA regulations, and perform emergency maintenance on building‑related systems and equipment. Required Qualifications Completion of a 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate. Valid Province of Alberta or Interprovincial 3rd Class Engineer’s Certificate of Competency. 1–3 years of progressive experience operating and maintaining a modern 1st Class pressure plant in a hospital setting. Good knowledge of DCS (e.g., Insight, ABB, etc.). Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. ABSA Certification and 2nd Class ABSA part A or B written. Demonstrated operational and maintenance abilities and proven mechanical aptitude. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and no limitations in sitting, bending, kneeling, or crouching. Good verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal direction. Preferred Qualifications As Required. Location & Shift Primary Location: Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta.Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, On Call.Hours per Shift: 12 hours.Length of Shift: 12 weeks per cycle; 40 shifts per cycle. Compensation Hourly Rate: $37.68 to $40.81.
