OverviewDirector, Product Management - 12-month Contract. The Director of Product Management is responsible for meeting the financial targets of Control Brand for their respective multi-category portfolios. The director works in partnership with the development, category, and sourcing teams to build Control Brand programs and drive the business end-to-end from strategy to tactics. The role focuses on customer-centric, breakthrough product innovation; building brands that are worth switching supermarkets for; and incremental profitability to the enterprise. The Product Management Director will coach, mentor and develop their team and provide direction in planning, vendor management, product innovation, category renovations, go-to-market strategies and packaging/marketing communication in support of overall financial objectives. The incumbent works with internal and external stakeholders to achieve Control Brand objectives across a wide portfolio of categories, including Category, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing & Vendors.AccountabilitiesOwns all key decisions and results related to the Control Brand portfolio; leads team development to deliver and prioritize business excellence.Ensure product managers’ innovation, renovation and base maintenance plans support key financial targets, including sales, margin and penetration.Drive leading-edge product innovation to deliver incremental sales and year-over-year growth in Sales from New.Own and champion a 3-year brand strategy and vision to drive category growth and allocate resources accordingly.Contribute to enterprise marketing campaign strategies via brand-building product development, marketing briefings, and executional excellence.Navigate the product life-cycle from strategy through costs, logistics, stakeholder alignment and vendor management.Lead packaging design momentum with briefs, creative reviews/revisions, and executive approvals for sixty+ items per year.Coach, develop and mentor direct reports; provide on-the-job training, timely feedback, and career development opportunities.Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to invest in the Control Brand business for growth.Develop vendor partnerships, unlocking innovation, negotiation, and problem solving across product initiatives.Attend and support executive meetings as required, including Board/Insider reports and forecasting.Other duties as assigned.Role Requirements7-10 years related experience (preferably in corporate food or packaged goods), with 3+ years in a leadership role.Brand strategy and positioning; developing customer insights from data and analytics.Ability to coach and mentor direct reports; strong people development focus.Strong business acumen, including P&L management and understanding of financial metrics.Understanding of market and competitive landscape; data-driven decision making.Excellent communication and influencing skills; comfortable presenting to large groups.Learning agility and track record of skill development; creative problem solving; ability to drive change.Post-secondary education.Experience in vendor management and evaluating vendor capabilities to handle capacity, volume, and quality issues.Key MeasuresControl brand sales, penetration, and marginIncremental profitability to the enterpriseBrand healthSales from New and in-year product launch targetsInsider’s delivery and growthGrowth in market shareCustomer acquisitionOur commitment to sustainability and social impact is integral to how we do business.
