Physician Assistant - Hospitalist - Temporary Full-Time Temporary Full-Time (up to 12 months with possible extension) – Salary $49.88 – $60.09 per hour. Position: Physician Assistant at Brockville General Hospital, a 160‑bed full‑service community hospital serving a regional catchment area of up to 135,000. Brockville is located 1 hour from tertiary care centers in Kingston and Ottawa. City of Brockville: Located along Highway 401 beside the St. Lawrence River, northeast of Kingston. The city is less than a day’s drive to major North American city centres: Kingston (70 km), Ottawa (110 km), Montréal (210 km), Toronto (340 km). Position Summary Reporting to the Program Manager, Medical Surgical Unit and under the supervision of the Chief Hospitalist, the Physician Assistant (PA) provides medical care within the scope of practice defined by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s Delegation on Controlled Acts policy. Major responsibilities may include providing advice and consultation, gathering data, interviewing patients and their caregivers, conducting physical examinations, ordering investigations, and providing patient treatment under supervision of the Most Responsible Physician (MRP). The PA participates in departmental and hospital‑wide activities that model and promote a safe, patient‑centered environment, and contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives. Requirements Graduate of the McMaster or Consortium Physician Assistant Program, or an accredited AI program, and certified by the Canadian Academy of Physician Assistants. Required Certification Successful completion of the Canadian Physician Assistant certification exam. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Relevant Experience and Skills Experience with shared decision‑making and leadership techniques. Demonstrated expertise in evidence‑based practice (Choosing Wisely). Effective problem‑solving skills. Commitment to professional growth and development. Excellent oral and written communication. Critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a collaborative practice model with an interdisciplinary team. Change‑management skills. Skills in adult physical and mental health assessment.
