Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Manager of Plant Operations, Facilities Management modifies heating systems by installing new radiators, steam traps, reducing valves and control valves to increase the heating efficiency of the systems. Experience
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in all phases of installation, maintenance, modification, inspection and replacement of a variety of facets of building mechanical and plumbing/heating services and equipment (i.e., heating/cooling systems, pumps, RO Water System) and associated components. Demonstrated satisfactory experience as determined by current employment and management. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Complete High School Matriculation or GED by Manitoba Standards, required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Province of Manitoba or Interprovincial qualifications as a Journeyman Plumber or Fitter/Steamfitter required. Province of Manitoba or Interprovincial qualifications as both a Journeyman Plumber and Fitter/Steamfitter, preferred. Qualifications and Skills
Thorough and comprehensive understanding of plumbing codes and their application in a variety of facilities, building and equipment, as well as experience in the installation of plumbing, heating, and medical gas systems. Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to repair, modify, install, maintain, replace and inspect building mechanical and plumbing/heating services and equipment. Knowledge of all Microsoft Windows operating systems and ability to work with Widows based computer programs and custom application programs related to electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of SAP preferred but not required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team of trades and professions, required. Ability to confidently work off blue prints, required. City of Winnipeg Backflow Prevention, required. Demonstrates the ability to actively maintain effective records related to the position required. Physical Requirements
Position requires heavy lifting, bending, working in elevated places on various pieces of equipment (i.e., scaffolding, ladders) and the ability to work in confined spaces. Has the ability to work in an unpredictable and fast-paced environment.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
