The RoleRakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Senior Financial Planning Analyst to join our Finance team. This will be a critical role on the Financial Planning & Analysis team with the opportunity to work in a highly dynamic environment involving strategic advisory, data analytics, and corporate finance with a high level of responsibility and exposure to executive leadership. Kobo’s Finance team is an energetic and dedicated group of professionals that are highly involved in all facets of the business through the delivery of exceptional stakeholder value.Reporting to the Manager of FP&A, the Senior Financial Planning Analyst will be responsible for the analysis, preparation, and delivery of Kobo’s financial and operational forecast, budget, and actual results. They will offer key analytical support and oversight to Kobo’s financial month-end process and to leaders throughout the organization. They will also play an important role in reporting to investors and Kobo’s Parent company.The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, experience navigating dynamic structures to facilitate business decision making, be comfortable with advanced data analytics, and have demonstrated an ability to provide precise, data-driven analysis when dealing with a variety of stakeholders and an uncertain future.This role has the opportunity for flexible remote work depending on manager requirements. Candidates will be required to work from the Toronto Head Office at least once per week.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in preparing and delivering weekly forecast updates to parent organizationProvide monthly FvA & BvA analysis and facilitate management budget controlsParticipate in annual business strategy development and budget processesAct as the administrator of all sources of financial data, including budget, forecasts, and actual financial results to provide business support to various internal stakeholdersSupport of financial Month-end activities, providing oversight and analytical support to operational teams during financial closing activitiesCollaborate with Finance, Operations, and Big Data teams to drive strategic decision support and act as an essential business partnerForecast, and maintain operational KPI metrics such as customers and units soldPrepare and Provide regular reporting to investors and parent companyWork on other ad-hoc special projectsSubject Matter ExpertiseExpertise in Management AccountingFinancial Analysis & Data AnalyticsStrong communication and presentation skillsBudgeting and ForecastingThe SkillsetTechnical skillsAdvanced expertise in Microsoft Excel & Power PointExperience with Business Intelligence Software (Tableau, Power BI, etc.), an assetExperience with Python and SQL, an assetExperience with ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc), an assetSkills & QualificationsUniversity degree in Accounting / Commerce / Business AdministrationMember / Candidate of a professional accounting designation (CPA : CA, CMA, CGA), an assetMinimum 2 year (or equivalent coop) experience in a financial analyst roleExcellent conceptualization / graphing / charting abilitiesPassionate about discovering meaning in complex data setsSelf-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and data-driven resultsSuperior work ethic and ability to act both independently and collaboratively within a teamThe Perks :Flexible hours and hybrid to remote friendly working environment4 extended summer long weekendsFull benefits starting from your first dayPaid Volunteer days, unlimited sick days, and 3% RRSP matchingMonthly commuting allowance for hybrid employeesFlexible health spending accountTraining budget + Udemy accountFree Kobo device + free weekly e-book or audiobookWeekly Kobo Tech University sessionsMaternity / paternity leave top up90 Day Work from Anywhere programDaily lunch credit when in-office and in-office snacksDog friendly office #J-18808-Ljbffr
