OverviewSenior Electrical Designer – EV Charging Systems at WSP in Canada. The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Designer with deep expertise in medium and low voltage distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have exposure to EV charging systems, solar PV integration, and sustainability-driven electrical design. Candidate will be responsible for preparing all required electrical drawings for the conceptual design provided by the Professional Engineer. These include drawings for medium voltage distribution, relay wiring schematics, low voltage distribution, networking, site layouts, and foundation details.What you’ll doParticipate in the development of electrical projects, from preliminary studies to detailed engineering.Be familiar with control and protection philosophies of LV and MV electrical systems.Prepare CAD/Revit drawings including site plans, single line diagrams, panel schedules, communication diagrams, and material takeoffs under the supervision of a Professional Engineer as required.Draft electrical equipment and installation specifications under the supervision of a Professional Engineer as required.Conduct electrical feasibility studies.Conduct arc flash studies, harmonic analysis, load flow assessments, and coordination studies. Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or equivalent platforms is considered essential and is a strong asset for performing these analyses.Prepare tender documents and quotes for equipment supply and installation.Prepare and analyze bids and tender documents.Ensure deadlines are respected and that the quality of deliverables is maintained.Represent the firm to clients.What you’ll bringBachelor of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technologist.5+ years of relevant design/drafting experience.Hold the title of engineer-in-training, Certified electrical technologist, or equivalent.Excellent knowledge of 600V/MV electrical distribution networks.Excellent command of the Canadian Electrical Code and local amendments.Fluent in English.
