Employment and Income Assistance Counsellor Join to apply for the Employment and Income Assistance Counsellor role at Government of Manitoba. The Department of Families is seeking highly motivated and empathetic individuals to fill various Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) Counsellor positions within the Winnipeg area. Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must have a valid full‑stage Class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on occasion. Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Must provide and maintain satisfactory Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Checks. Essential Qualifications Post‑secondary education in the social services field. This may include a certificate, diploma or degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience working with individuals/families from diverse backgrounds who may face multiple barriers such as addictions, mental illness, disability and employment. Ability to manage conflict calmly, assertively and respectfully. Strong English written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to independently problem‑solve with empathy while ensuring legislation and policy are applied equitably. Ability to set priorities and exercise initiative in a complex, fast‑paced environment with high‑volume caseloads. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with participants, other programs and external resources. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Desired Qualifications Case management experience in a social service setting. Knowledge of Employment and Income Assistance programs. Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in French (asset but not required).
