OverviewApplies configuration skills to achieve timely engineering tasks within customer cost, and quality requirements in support of assigned project(s).Purpose of RoleThe CM Specialist is responsible for ensuring the correct categorization of Configuration Items (both Engineering Parts and Documentation), and adherence to Configuration Management Policy, throughout a product’s lifecycle on major and minor projects.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the technical direction for their allocated scopeEstimate the hours and duration required for own tasksSupport planning input to project schedules and deliver own work commensurate with those plansContribute information to project reportsMaintain configuration management structures and toolsParticipate in and support progress meetings and reviews as requiredOversee transfer of configuration documentation to the CustomerProvide support to Change Control Boards and support the preparation of review data packages and end item data packagesRegister and track classified data within the company in accordance with EIA649C regulations, guidance and Configuration Management best practiceProcess secret and secure documents both internal and external to the companyConduct Configuration Management in regards to documentation and company documentation review and archivingRequired Skills, Qualifications and Experience3 plus years of Configuration or Configuration related disciplineExperience of delivering Configuration Engineering activities on multiple applications/projectsKnowledge of configuration control related standards and change and configuration management fundamentals and principlesExperience in generating configuration control documentation using MS Office in addition to experience in the application of relevant configuration control softwareAbility to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program and appropriate security clearance with the Public Services and Procurement Canada\'s Contract Security Program, including NATO ClearanceDesired SkillsKnowledge of Windchill / PDM systems and/or IFS/ERP/MRP systems advantageousBackground in the defence industry preferredAble to work under pressure and meet tight deadlinesAttention to detail and good concentration skillsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsLogical, analytical approach to problem-solvingGood organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsExcellent communication skills with the ability to express ideas, share technical information and communicate at all levelsExcellent interpersonal skills, able to liaise at all levels and across different culturesUnderstanding and application of Configuration Management principles, concepts, practices and standards (as a minimum CM Industry standard EIA-649, ISO10007 etc.)Good team player, with a proactive and collaborative approachWillingness to embrace change, with a drive to champion the implementation of quality / continuous improvement initiativesDemonstrated capability of working under tight timelines, and to thrive in a high pressure environmentStrong attention to detail and a CM \'mindset\' in everything you doSelf-starter with ability to work on their own, and within a cross functional teamEducationTypically, a Bachelor Degree in a related field and 0+ years of related experience or a recognized apprenticeship.
