OverviewRequisition ID: 237361Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Portfolio Administrator will function as a subject matter expert in various functional areas including, but not limited to derivative processing and settlements, collateral management, reconciliations, and administrative functions related to account setups and documentation. They will provide day-day support for middle office functions by ensuring post trade activities are monitored and/or administered in a timely and efficient manner.ResponsibilitiesProvide daily coverage on the Reconciliation desk, supporting the team with Market Openings, Broker onboarding and New Account setupsEnsure that any potential risk to the business is acted upon in a prompt and informed mannerEnsure that account information is accurate in the systems and on daily/weekly/monthly reports via timely reconciliations between system and external data sourcesParticipate in the review of processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and mitigate risksParticipate in the testing and implementation of operational enhancementsEnsure deadlines are met and appropriate escalations are in placeAdhere to departmental and company policies and procedures, ensuring complianceProvide support to interdepartmental staff as requiredActively participate in team learning, development and team performance activities including team meetings and coaching sessionsObtain and forward outstanding documentation to appropriate departments to ensure transactions are completed efficiently and accuratelyInvestigate and follow up on inquiries as requiredCollaborate with compliance, legal, portfolio managers, traders, etc. as requiredLiaise between external counterparties (brokers, custodians, etc.) and internal departments as it relates to portfolio administration activitiesProvide reports and statistical information to management as requirePerform ad hoc duties as assignedQualificationsUniversity degree or college diploma3+ years of relevant securities industry experienceCanadian Securities Course (CSC) is an assetExperience with Charles River, Simcorp Dimension, SSCNet, Markitwire, Bloomberg and OMGEO products is an assetProficient in MS Office (medium/expert user of Excel, familiar with Access)Strong knowledge of the securities / brokerage industry, including clearing and settlements market processes and Margin and Collateral processing for Derivative holdingsAbility to learn new tasks quickly and accuratelyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detailAn ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying transaction volumesStrong processing skillsExcellent client service skillsAn ability to set and achieve goals and work independentlyAn ability to exercise discretion with sensitive informationAn ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasksEffective communication skills both written and verbalLocationLocation(s): Canada : Ontario : TorontoAbout ScotiabankScotiabank is a leading bank in the Americas.
