Indigenous Advisor and Community LiaisonThe Indigenous Advisor and Community Liaison contributes to the maintenance and development of productive and positive working relationships with First Nations and Métis communities within the community campus catchment.Reporting to the Vice President Indigenization (VPI) or their designate, the incumbent will work with First Nations leadership and community members, as well as supervisors in agencies, industry, and businesses, to design and create appropriate guidelines for college programs and services.Key Responsibilities:Assist in designing dynamic strategies and policies that create positive educational and service links between the college and Indigenous communities.Liaise between First Nations and Métis communities and the college.Advise faculty and College staff about First Nations protocols and other cultural considerations.Provide direct cultural input into program development and ongoing delivery based on community guidance.Facilitate meetings with Indigenous leadership, administrators, community members, and other stakeholders on Indigenous initiatives.Encourage involvement of Indigenous leadership, Elders, Knowledge Holders, and administration in college activities and events.Provide educational outreach service to Indigenous communities and organizations.Support the promotion of CNC programs and services to First Nations and Métis communities.Requirements:Recognized two (2) year diploma in Indigenous studies, social work, education, or related field of study. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.3 years or more of previous experience working collaboratively with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and organizations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Basic computer proficiency skills.Conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills.In-depth understanding of First Nations and Métis cultures, issues, and social structure.Possesses knowledge and experience around local First Nations and Métis organizations.Ability to handle information and reports in a confidential and professional manner.This is a part-time, seasonal position. The typical regular work season is September to June. The position requires a person of Aboriginal ancestry who also meets all other necessary qualifications. #J-18808-Ljbffr
