Our team is made up of talented individuals from various backgrounds and life experiences, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives.Job SummaryMain Street Project offers Protective Care to our community through the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act (IPDA), which supports intoxicated individuals into sobriety using a harm reduction approach, close monitoring and a supported release. We aim to serve each person with safe and respectful services, following an initial transfer by Winnipeg Police Service officers or cadets.Reporting to the Protective Care Manager, the Protective Care Night Coordinator provides staffing and management support to all Protective Care employees while maintaining the core values of MSP regarding harm reduction, choice, equity, and diversity to encourage individuals’ capacity building. The Coordinator provides both administrative (payroll, timecard approvals, policy administration and compliance etc.) support and in the professional development (training, program compliance, workplace feedback, etc.) of front-line staff. Oversight of operations from 3:30-11:30pm Monday to Friday.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and provide directions to Protective Care staff in their day-to-day dutiesProvide support to management in policy and procedure adherenceSupport the Director in implementing new policies and proceduresAssist the Director in researching and developing new initiativesCoordinate employee on-boarding and trainingCommunicate organization updates with employees on a regular basis, answer queries and provide information as neededMonitor ongoing work, identify problems and make recommendations for continuous improvements of procedures and policiesResponsible for employee performance management; keeping the Director up-to-date on staff performanceParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing relevant participant informationEnsure employees follow safe work practices and MSP standard operating proceduresConduct daily personal protective equipment (PPE) audits on the correct use, donning and disposal proceduresLead team debrief after incidentsComplete timesheets for payroll processing in a timely mannerAddress community member complaints or concerns; keep the Director up to date on all community member interactionsProvide coverage on an emergency basis when needed.Provide crisis prevention and intervention as neededAttend and plan mandatory staff meetings, workshops and training sessionsCommunicate on a regular basis with the Director on any staffing / scheduling issues or concernsCollect and report all monthly statistical information, MIS stats and other program related stats.Reports stats in a timely and accurate mannerQualificationsTwo years’ experience in human services, preferably working with adults challenged by homelessness, mental illness and/or chemical dependency. Post-secondary education in the field of addictions and mental health is considered an assetRelevant post-secondary education is considered an asset.Experience in a management or administrative role is considered an assetProficient computer literacyAbility to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds and disciplines.Excellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to work with a client-centred care philosophyAbility to assess crisis and work in a crisis situationAbility to understand and comply with PHIA regulationsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent listening skillsAbility to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary teamSubscribe to the philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs, and of consideration and respect for participantsKnowledge of Indigenous cultureKnowledge of the effects of poverty and the determinants of healthAbility to work effectively with participants displaying unpleasant and/or aggressive behaviourDemonstrated ability to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in their day-to-day support of participantsAbility to work flexible hours to meet program needAdditional RequirementsSatisfactory Criminal Record with clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required.
