Job Description

Business Overview:
The IT Application Production Support Team Investment Funds Services is part of the Information Technology Group, which works simultaneously on a wide range of projects arising from business, strategic initiatives, regulatory changes, and reengineering of existing applications to improve functionality and efficiency.

Department Overview:
The newly formed APS Team will offer services from Montreal as part of the IT Production Canada platform and is looking for suitably qualified analysts. The Team will support a number of critical applications which are under high-availability constraints. These services range from providing technical and functional assistance to supporting projects and deliveries. p>

Position Summary:
The primary purpose of the job is to ensure the day-to-day quality of service of live applications to end-users by:

  • Diagnosing and resolving incidents
  • Answering user requests
  • Monitoring production environments
  • Developing a good understanding of the existing application (functional and technical)
  • Ensuring daily communication & transition with teams from other time zones
  • This position implies On Call Duties, to cover for eventual incidents that may occur during the weekends and bank holidays as a level 2 for other locations.
  • The position consists of providing support for the corresponding list of applications in a cross-regional environment, in a follow-the-sun model. Being a follow-the-sun model, candidates will be expected to work on different alternating shifts.

Candidates having exposure to ITIL V3, capable of participating in critical initiatives within the Team, interacting with Quality Control and Reporting Teams in the production of Key Performance Indicators, and exposure/experience towards the follow-the-sun support model may be favoured.

In addition, having technical and functional experience with applications like (but not limited to) SWIFT, Cash Pooling, Bloomberg, Data warehousing, Regulatory reporting, and other financial/business applications will be favoured.

Required Technical Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge in SQL queries (Sybase T-SQL mandatory, Oracle PL/SQL would be an advantage) and DBMS concepts (Sybase Replication Server would be an advantage)
  • Expert knowledge and experience of working in Unix environments and Shell scripting
  • Good knowledge and experience of working in MacOS environments
  • Knowledge of programming languages (C, C++, .Net, VBA, Java, 4D) would be an advantage. Knowledge of Excel macros would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Schedulers (Autosys, Control M), ETL tool (Datastage WTX), and file transfer tools (CFT) would be an advantage
  • Investment Banking/Capital markets knowledge
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • Incident management
  • Knowledge of cloud computing
  • Knowledge of Dynatrace
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role. He/she must be experienced in providing multi-disciplined technical support as part of a team and have practical knowledge of performance and capacity management from an application, database, and network perspective as well as a strong aptitude for automation.
  • Nice to have Mac knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience of Investment service Industry
  • Good knowledge of Mutual funds Administration
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis in a large and complex/diverse environment, including relevant qualifications or experience, would be an advantage
  • Knowledge on Performance Breakdown and Attribution calculation would be an advantage

Required Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good French verbal communication skills are a plus, fluent English communication is a must
