Applications are invited for the position of Accessibility Consultant, Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services (HWAS) located at the Welland campus. Occasional intercampus travel for team meetings and events will be required. The starting hourly rate is $42.56/hour (Pay Band J $42.56/hr to $49.34) for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This is an Appendix D, temporary position as per Article 17.3.1 of the Support Staff Collective Agreement and is set to commence in February 2026 and will conclude in July 2026. It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties. Reporting to the Director, Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services, the Accessibility Consultant offers accessibility services for students with disabilities. HWAS encompasses health services, counselling, and accessibility services, and operates as an integrated model of care. The Accessibility Consultant participates as a collaborative team member in providing a supportive environment to help students with disabilities achieve success while at college. Responsibilities Reviewing documentation and conducting intake interviews with students with disabilities Proposing transitional support and guidance for students Evaluating medical documentation and approving academic accommodations Assessing the impact on the academic program and determining appropriate level of support and services for the student Identifying funding options, and, if appropriate, ensuring that services meet guidelines Referring and/or setting up with other services as appropriate Record-keeping and managing data Exploring options and opportunities for students to address problematic situations regarding accommodations while promoting self-advocacy, independence and self-determination Liaising with faculty and staff Qualifications Four-year degree or equivalent in Disability Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Humanities, Education or another related discipline, which includes coursework in disability studies Minimum of five (5) years of practical experience working in an environment that requires knowledge of academic accommodations for individuals with disabilities Possess knowledge, skills and experiences with mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, adaptive technology, learning strategies, diversity and social inclusion Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, problem-solve under pressure within a public environment and maintain a professional and invitational attitude at all times Experience working in an integrated team is an asset Strong communication and writing skills Computer proficiency, preferably in an MS Office environment Masters degree will be considered an asset Training or experience in supporting individuals in distress and/or suicide intervention will be considered an asset Knowledge of Ontario Human Rights Code will be considered an asset This position is open to internal employees and external applicants.
