OverviewRadiological Technologist, CT/General Procedures – Burnaby HospitalRole: Radiological Technologist, CT/General Procedures at Burnaby Hospital, Fraser Health Authority.Salary: CAD $38.08 - $47.55 per hourJob SummaryWe are hiring for a full-time Radiological Technologist, CT/General Procedures at Burnaby Hospital. This role involves performing CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental policy and procedures, while maintaining patient and family-centered care and adhering to radiation safety standards.Education, Training And ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT. Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one (1) year recent, related experience including supervisory experience and experience in radiology procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.ResponsibilitiesPerforms special procedure examinations in CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with established procedures, including requisitions, clinical history review, patient positioning, venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed, operating imaging equipment, labeling records, and verifying results to meet departmental standards.Monitors patients during procedures for adverse reactions to contrast media and other emergencies; may perform CPR when required by policy.Images studies using radiography equipment and information systems; ensures patient identification and requisition alignment and reports equipment malfunctions to the Supervisor.Facilitates workflow by verifying requisitions, managing examination timing, and coordinating with porters as needed.May oversee daily operations of Medical Imaging personnel, including scheduling, staff development, payroll records, and staff orientation; participates in staffing decisions and department planning with the Site Coordinator or Modality Supervisor.Engages in staffing, hiring and discipline processes as appropriate and contributes to planning, policies, and standards to improve department services.Performs quality control duties, schedules and conducts equipment tests, records results, and notifies the Supervisor of issues requiring action.Participates in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program and quality assurance checks (e.g., patient/physician satisfaction, booking protocols).Maintains the designated work area, prepares examination trays, stocks supplies, and notifies Supervisor when items are depleted.Demonstrates procedures and equipment usage to staff, residents, technologists, and students; participates in orientation of new employees.Maintains patient and hospital records by entering data into Radiology and Hospital Information Systems; responds to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding examinations and schedules.Determines workload measurements, compiles workload statistics, and contributes to performance and service improvement discussions with leadership.Ensures the department adheres to Health and Safety rules and infection control practices; updates staff on safety procedures and ensures proper training and authorization to operate equipment.Participates in capital equipment proposals and hospital committees where Medical Imaging representation is required; may participate in approved research and special projects.Maintains equipment operation and arranges for maintenance and repairs as required; promotes a safe and healthy workplace for patients and staff.Performs other related duties as assigned.Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of CAMRT standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners.Knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality; understanding of PACS/radiology information systems and digital imaging, archiving and retrieval.Ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals; strong communication skills with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, and external agencies.Ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to plan and establish workload priorities; CT techniques proficiency; CPR proficiency.Computer literacy with current applications; physical ability to perform job duties.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia.
