OverviewJoin to apply for the Accountant, Tax role at MNP. This position sits within the Tax team, delivering customized tax strategies within a complex regulatory framework. As a trusted advisor, you’ll design solutions for clients that meet compliance and reporting requirements, minimize risk, drive efficiencies and maximize returns.ResponsibilitiesDevelop technical skills in areas such as compilations, reviews, bookkeeping and taxDevelop and apply knowledge of IFRS and/or ASPE, the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislationSet up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory countsResearch various tax related issues and conclude on their potential implicationsCollect and analyze relevant financial and tax dataReview, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reportsEstablish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accountsCompute taxes owed and prepare tax returns for various types of entitiesPrepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlightsCollaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contactsContribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using internal programs and systemsMaintain flexibility to travel, as necessarySkills and ExperienceCompletion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred)Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employmentPrevious tax or accounting related office experience is an assetCustomer service and/or client service experience is an assetExperience working with accounting and tax software is an assetRewards and DiversityWith a focus on high-potential earnings, MNP offers customized rewards that support our culture and work-life balance.
