The Pediatric Hematology & Oncology ambulatory (out‑patient) clinic at McMaster Children’s Hospital (MUMC site) delivers comprehensive care to children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer and/or blood disorders. The care includes acute tertiary and subspecialty oncology medical and surgical care in an outpatient setting, collaboration with the inpatient team, and community partners. Follow‑up care is provided within a family‑based model, with a multi‑disciplinary team approach. Neuropsychology plays a key role in monitoring late effects of treatment through the After Care Team. Position Summary The Neuropsychology service within the Pediatric Oncology team plays a vital role in the long‑term outcomes of children diagnosed with cancer in the Hamilton, Halton, Waterloo and Niagara regions. The majority of children treated for cancer develop neuro‑toxic effects on the developing brain. Neuropsychologists assess and monitor changes across the lifespan, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, child‑life specialists and allied health professionals. The neuropsychologist receives referrals from the medical team and provides comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to measure and monitor neuro‑cognitive development, offers recommendations related to neuropsychological changes, and refers patients to other services for psychological concerns. The position includes a designated psychometrist. Knowledge of neuro‑oncological diagnoses such as brain tumors and leukemia, and exposure to neurological sequelae including seizures, stroke and other blood disorders, would be an asset. Training as a Clinical Psychologist would be an asset to offer psycho‑diagnostic and psycho‑educational assessments. Schedule / Work Hours Monday to Friday (22.5 hours weekly) Qualifications Doctoral level training in Clinical Neuropsychology from an accredited university Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university – an asset Registered or eligible for registration as a psychologist or psychologist in supervised practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for the practice of neuropsychology Minimum of two years recent, relevant experience working with children and adolescents Clinical training and current experience in neuropsychological assessment with adults – an asset Demonstrated consultation skills and ability to work flexibly with multi‑disciplinary teams Experience providing supervision, teaching, and training Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and quality improvement Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and problem‑solve effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to provide education to health care providers, students, and community members Interest in developing and participating in research Seniority Level Not Applicable Employment Type Part‑time Job Function Health Care Provider Industries Hospitals and Health Care Hamilton Health Sciences is an equal opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
