The starting annual salary for this part‑time School Teacher position ranges from $37,102.80 to $65,074.80, with placement on the July 1 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Job Summary & Responsibilities Mountain Elementary is a vibrant K‑5 school nestled in picturesque Mountain Village on Sumas Mountain. The staff, students and families have established this elementary school as a school of excellence. Mountain Elementary is a safe school, with high behavioral expectations and standards. Students are actively taught appropriate social skills and they are reinforced through the use of school‑wide behavior support systems. Education & Experience Elementary teacher training with major practicum at the Intermediate level Successful teaching experience at the Intermediate level Eligible for B.C. Certification Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Intermediate program Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of a balanced literacy program Teaching Competencies Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate and respectful manner. Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics. Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning.
