Environmental Reclamation Student

You can contribute to the success of oil sands operations using industry-leading techniques. As part of this role, you will actively monitor reclamation operations and conduct field surveys, utilizing cutting-edge electronic data collection methods. Moreover, you will collaborate with the Environment team, supporting them in the monitoring of wildlife, surface and ground water, and the eradication of noxious weeds. This position primarily focuses on fieldwork, providing you with valuable hands-on experience. Term length:

4 x 3 - 10 hours (Monday - Thursday) Safety sensitive position:
Yes Key Accountabilities: Collect soil samples and reclamation placement data utilizing electronic data collection methods Survey reclamation areas and areas of disturbance for appropriate tracking Collect pre-soil salvage surveys (ground truthing) data and interpret results Collect vegetation data on previously revegetated reclamation areas Monitor revegetation activities such as seeding, harrowing, tree/shrub planting Assist Reclamation Soils and Vegetation Specialist in the preparation and organizing of soils and vegetation data for annual and quarterly reporting Utilize ArcGIS remote applications such as Field Maps and Survey 123 Establish control of noxious weeds via weed monitoring and removal and conduct wetland monitoring activities Conduct surface water and ground water monitoring activities Collect wildlife fieldwork data, may include downloading wildlife cameras Ensure the adherence to safety regulations both for yourself and your team members Assist with the generation of supporting data and forms for regulatory application submissions, reports and publications What You Bring to The Role: Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year or Master program of Land Reclamation, Forestry, Environmental, Biology, or Natural Science Program Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract Physically able to handle the rigors of field work Previous experience in completing reclamation field work is an asset Previous ATV and/or watercraft experience considered an asset Experience using ArcGIS collector considered an asset Previous reclamation or Oil Sands experience considered an asset What We Offer: Competitive salary Quality camp facilities with multiple amenities available Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta May be eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Policy Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Students may be eligible for relocation assistance pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Student Relocation Policy.
