The Operations Manager is a full‑time, year‑round position with a significant amount of responsibility. This position manages several Supervisors of the following departments: Lift Operations, Summit Guides, and Mountain Crew. This role will carry out management responsibilities in accordance with established policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance management, and addressing guest complaints and resolving problems. Duties and Responsibilities Act as a strong leader for operations personnel. Plan month‑to‑month operations for the team. Anticipate daily challenges to ensure safe and efficient service for guests and staff. Make critical decisions in the absence of the Director of Operations & Maintenance. Collaborate closely with the Lift Maintenance Manager to ensure effective communication between departments. Adhere to all operational and safety procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the lift. Operate passenger ropeway for transporting guests during public operations, and for transporting maintenance personnel during line work. Assist where needed in performing Lift Operations duties (start‑up, ticket scanning, safe operation of the Gondola, parking lot management, covering breaks, etc.). Oversee the Tube Park (seasonal), including staffing, logistics, and maintenance. Ensure that daily records are accurate, updated, and organized. Apply all safety standards and best practices during daily operations. Embodies the value “safety starts with us” and complies with health and safety regulations; participates in the Sea to Sky Gondola’s health and safety program and reports incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly. Answer company information/emergency phone and initiate response as required, especially when the Director of Operations & Maintenance is unavailable during scheduled hours. Create and maintain all operational signage; ensure trail maps are up to date and follow the latest branding standards. Attend weekly management meetings. Provide outstanding customer service, anticipating guest needs and offering physical assistance when required. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Lift Hosts, Tube Park Attendants, Summit Guides, Mountain Crew, and any other operations staff. Coach, mentor, and provide consistent feedback to team members to help them reach their goals. Handle payroll and scheduling of Operations Team Members. Order miscellaneous supplies required for operations (cleaning products, etc.). Maintain cleanliness around the gondola and on all trails. Support environmental sustainability goals by encouraging employee and guest participation in waste, energy, and water reduction programs. Perform other duties as required. Required Skills and Experience Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of detachable passenger ropeways (preferably Doppelmayr). At least 2 years of leadership experience, including managing 20+ people within ski industry operations or tourism (ski lift operations management, trail crew leadership, guiding lead). Lift 150 or Lift 151 Certificate (or willingness to attain within 3 months). BC Driver’s License (Class 4 an asset). Prior experience as part of an emergency response team (asset). 4x4 driving on alpine mountain roads; ATV experience an asset. First Aid designation preferred (Basic FA, OFA 3). Knowledge of radio protocols and usage. Experience with systems and administration (e.g., ADP, myHR, Oracle). Excellent interpersonal skills with clear, consistent communication to team members and stakeholders. Detail‑oriented and proficient with Microsoft Suite for records, schedules, and documents. Extensive knowledge of Squamish and surrounding area. Ability to reason and react with quick, thoughtful judgment while remaining calm under pressure. Weekend and evening availability. Experience with inventory management. Legally authorized to work in Canada. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.
