WHO WE ARE Summit Water designs and manufactures water re-use systems for multi‑residential and commercial buildings. Based in Cambridge, Ontario, Summit Water is a leader in developing de‑centralized solutions for the recycling of rainwater, stormwater and groundwater, providing innovative solutions for water supply, treatment, and re‑use. ABOUT THE POSITION The Sr. Process & Applications Engineer is responsible for creating designs and technical submittals for water treatment and pump systems. They will work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and the manufacturing team to create and improve product designs and to develop drawings for a wide variety of treatment systems and equipment, including tanks, pumps, and skids. RESPONSIBILITIES Design and implement innovative water treatment solutions in support of Summit Water’s business. Create design specifications and detailed design submittals including P&IDs and process narratives. Lead in creating standard designs. Assist in R&D initiatives. Collaborate with clients to understand their specific water treatment needs and tailor solutions accordingly. Provide technical support and expertise during project implementation, ensuring successful integration of water treatment systems. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in water treatment technologies to enhance our offerings. Perform process calculations, simulations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform decision‑making. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field. 8 to 12 years of proven experience in water treatment process design and optimization. Familiarity with potable and non‑potable water treatment concepts and sustainable water management practices. Firm grasp of different unit processes in water treatment and associated instrumentation and controls. Ability to perform necessary engineering calculations to size pumps and water treatment systems. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards related to water treatment. Proficiency in process simulation tools and engineering software. ASSETS (NOT REQUIRED) P. Eng. designation would be an asset, but not required with the right experience. Experience with rotating equipment (pumps, turbines, motors, etc.) Experience with current stormwater management concepts. Experience with pressure vessels and mechanical packaged builds. Knowledge of common industry standards (e.g., ASPE, CSA, NSF, ASME, ASTM) is preferred.
