Senior Distributed Systems Software Engineer

Were seeking a pragmatic performance-driven Distributed Systems Engineer to architect and scale the backbone of our next-generation data infrastructure. This is a critical technical leadership role for high-impact engineers who have mastered building optimizing and operating large-scale multi-cloud backend platforms. What You’ll Do Design and implement robust data-sync pipelines real-time streaming layers and high-throughput backend services for modern infrastructure at petabyte scale. Lead architecture of multi-region and multi-cloud sync caching and event collection systems pushing platform boundaries for performance resiliency and compliance. Drive adoption of cloud-agnostic architectures (AWS GCP Azure) to power global products with strict data residency and disaster recovery requirements. Optimize low-latency APIs and backend services for observability scalability security and cost-efficiency. Spearhead migration of monolithic systems to distributed microservices-based deployments (Kubernetes Docker). Partner with product compliance and data teams to deliver highly available infrastructure supporting hundreds of millions of daily transactions. Influence the technical roadmap for cutting-edge data streaming CDC and caching solutions (Kafka Flink Debezium Redis DynamoDB) Champion infrastructure-as-code advanced monitoring and automation using modern tools (Terraform Grafana Prometheus Datadog Jaeger). Lead incident response postmortem analysis and end-to-end reliability engineering. Mentor and upskill engineering teammates in distributed systems and data engineering best practices. Requirements What Sets You Apart Deep expertise in distributed systems design and cloud infrastructure (preferably across AWS GCP and Azure). Hands-on experience building and scaling data pipelines and backend systems at leading tech firms (e.g. Shopify Wealthsimple 1Password or Citadel). Fluency in Go Python or Java; comfort with SQL and C; proven contributions to performance tuning and systems optimization. End-to-end understanding of streaming architectures (Kafka Flink Pulsar) real-time syncing and cross-region replication. Proven ability to architect for data security residency and compliance across international markets. Demonstrated ownership of API performance engineering and microservices migration at scale (ideally with Kubernetes Docker and Infrastructure as Code). Track record of reducing compute spend and boosting SLAs through observability-driven engineering. Contributor to open source and / or personal technical projects in distributed caching data propagation or backend infrastructure.
