p>Specializing in litigation, this boutique firm, which brings together lawyers with recognized expertise, representing clients in all spheres of civil and commercial litigation, is looking for a Director of Legal Personnel and Professional Development.

The incumbent is responsible for supervising associates and paralegals and is responsible for the professional development of the legal team. He or she plays a pivotal role in maximizing talent, maintaining excellence in legal skills, and creating a work environment that is conducive to growth and continuous development. This position is strategic to ensure that the firm provides top-notch legal service to its clients. p>
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource Management

  1. Supervise associates, ensuring their integration, career development, and performance within the firm;
  2. Supervise legal staff and manage labour relations (problematic cases, disciplinary cases, disabilities, retention initiatives, recognition management, etc.);
  3. Plan and manage vacation requests from legal staff;
  4. Manage legal staffing activities (workforce planning, budget management, onboarding);
  5. Organize and coordinate all activities of the internship course and ensure the reception, integration and evaluation of students during the summers, in collaboration with the Internship Course Committee;
  6. Supervise the performance evaluation activities of legal staff;
  7. Participate in the salary review process of legal staff;
  8. Update and ensure the disclosure and compliance with human resources policies;

Professional Development

  1. Ensure the development and well-being of legal staff and develop retention initiatives for them;
  2. Develop and execute the Associate Career Planning Project, which is to define the competencies that a lawyer should acquire, each year in his or her practice and offer follow-up tools;
  3. Design and implement a professional development program for all members, including continuing education, language courses, writing courses, seminars and workshops;
  4. Ensure the planning of legal blogs;
  5. Coordinate the program for senior members and ensure their supervision within the framework of the company's ascension policy;
  6. Oversees the Knowledge Management Committee.

Management of ethical obligations

  1. Participate in the work of the Conflict Committee, ensure the implementation of appropriate procedures and policies;
  2. Participate in special projects related to the maintenance of ethical obligations.

DESIRED PROFILE
  1. University training in law or any other field deemed relevant;
  2. Litigation practice as a lawyer is an asset;
  3. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a talent management or human resources role, ideally in a law firm or in a professional setting;
  4. Knowledge of the management issues of a service professional firm;
  5. Mastery of legal compliance standards and human resources practices in the legal sector;
  6. Mastery of Office suite functions;
  7. Fluent French and English at professional level;
  8. Proven ability to lead and coach legal teams, as well as positively influence career development;
  9. Change management skills, with an ability to manage transitions and support team growth and development;
  10. Ability to manage multiple files at the same time and prioritize tasks;
  11. Ability to adapt to change and to react promptly and positively;
