Location: The role is hybrid, with a mix of remote and in-person work. Work primarily takes place at the Augustana Campus in Camrose, Alberta. Reporting to the Student Recruitment Service Partner, Campuses, the Student Recruiter at Augustana is responsible for disseminating information and effectively promoting the University of Alberta, specifically Augustana Campus, to prospective students across Canada. This exciting and diverse position supports the execution of Augustana recruitment strategies, specializing in the promotion of programs and services offered within the Augustana Campus to high school students in Canada, post‑secondary transfer students, their parents, and counsellors, and assists in the execution of the University's undergraduate recruitment strategy. This includes developing and implementing recruitment initiatives to help meet the strategic enrollment goals of the Augustana Campus. The role requires extensive travel across Alberta and Canada to select high schools, colleges, and special events to recruit prospective students via presentations and one‑on‑one interactions, including driving a University of Alberta fleet vehicle to local and rural Alberta recruitment events. It also involves recruiting and connecting with prospective students using virtual platforms. Responsibilities Travel across Alberta and Canada, targeting select high schools and special events to recruit prospective students via engaging presentations, booth fairs, and one‑on‑one advising. Provide on‑campus and virtual advising to prospective students, parents, and guests in both 1:1 and group settings. Respond to routine and non‑standard inquiries about the university, work‑integrated learning opportunities, student services, admission requirements, and admission status. Answer a range of questions on various subject areas (e.g., conversion of domestic curricula, IP/AP conversion, connections to career pathways and scholarships, etc.) and escalates inquiries when required. Promote the University of Alberta at various recruitment events and cultivate relationships with prospective high school students and their parents, including extensive public speaking. Work closely with all Student Recruitment positions to address the strategic needs of Augustana Campus and the university. Develop, grow, and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as high school counsellors and community members, on behalf of Augustana Campus. Respond to student, parent, and counsellor inquiries. Engage audiences in an age‑appropriate, culturally aware, and inclusive manner. Plan and execute faculty‑specific special events, including Registration Workshops, Information Sessions, Advising sessions, and other special events, both virtual and in‑person. Participate in coordinated recruitment activities with other student recruiters, colleagues within Student Recruitment and other client groups. Evaluate attended recruitment initiatives by reporting prospective engagement, lead generation, number of publications provided, event attendance, and other meaningful notes describing the purpose and utility of the event for evaluation and future planning purposes. Brainstorm and propose new and innovative ideas to improve prospective student engagement for the purpose of recruitment. Drive collection of leads from potential students and monitor their progression throughout the enrollment funnel. Enter data into university systems to track potential applicants. Assist prospective students with the admissions application process. Help troubleshoot admission challenges to ensure the admissibility of the applicant pool. Work with applicants to encourage offer acceptance and yield, ultimately increasing enrollment at the University. Keep admitted students engaged and continually convey the value of attending the U of A; plan and implement yield initiatives accordingly. Assist in the development of virtual recruitment tools and resources, such as creating virtual booths on behalf of faculties, Colleges, and the university (tip sheets, chat rooms). Qualifications An undergraduate degree (preferably an Augustana graduate); equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public speaking skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a large complex organization with a variety of stakeholders across many disciplines and maintain high levels of professionalism. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet targets, goals, and expectations. Strong cultural sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy. Proof of a valid Class 5 (non‑GDL) driver’s license and the ability to be authorized to drive U of A fleet vehicles (fleet safety driver authorization page).
