Work assignments include cutting steel, interpreting blueprints, rigging, directing cranes, assisting welders and setting structural steel.Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety” and adhere to and be ambassadors of Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and to treat others with dignity, respect and fairness.Core AccountabilitiesRead blueprints and specifications to lay out the workAssemble and erect pre-fabricated structural supportsSignal crane operator to position steel units according toErect and install hoisting, equipment and riggingPosition steel units, align holes and insert temporary boltsUnload and install pre-cast componentsPerforms physically demanding tasks such as lifting and moving structural steel/plates while standing for extended periods of time and securing steel in hard to reach areasIdentifies, initiates, recommends, and assists in issue resolution processesIdentify, recognize, and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the jobMay perform other related duties as assignedWork with non-destructive Testing InspectorConduct repairs, modifications, and retrofitsMonitor parts usage and report on any material issuesQualificationsEducationPossess a valid Journeyperson certificate of qualification issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authorityExperienceMust have experience working at heightsPrevious construction experience would be considered an assetSkills, Knowledge, & AbilitiesMust successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testingCapable of working as part of a teamFluent in speaking and reading EnglishMust be able to follow directionsSafety Tickets RequiredCSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)Bear or Wildlife Awareness courseStandard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training CertificateWHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)Fall Protection TrainingArial Work Platform TrainingTelehandler training is required if you will be operating equipment.Overhead Crane certification training – not mandatory but good to haveHoisting and Rigging TrainingWhy work for Strike:Based in Western Canada with a head office in Calgary, Alberta, we provide energy and industrial construction and maintenance services across the largest geographical area in Canada.At Strike we continuously demonstrate leadership, drive, creativity, and initiative.
